CNN Writes About Hilda Baci:—Nigerian chef Hilda Effiong Bassey has become a national sensation after cooking nonstop for 100 hours, in an attempt to set a world record.The chef, known on social media as Hilda Baci, started cooking on Thursday and continued until Monday – creating more than 55 recipes and over 100 meals designed to showcase the best of Nigerian cuisine in the marathon kitchen session.The Guinness world record committee still has to confirm that all their criteria have been met and whether Bassey will become the record holder.The record to beat – 87 hours and 45 minutes – was set in 2019 by Indian chef Lata Tondon who posted a message of support to Bassey ahead of her attempt.Bassey told CNN that she was motivated to attempt the record because she wants to put Nigerian food on the map.“Nigerian cuisine is the best out there,” she said. “The more recipes are propagated, the more people will be willing to try it. Nigerian food is such comfort food,” she added.

Governor Matawalle charges Buhari to halt study leave, foreign posting ahead of incoming administration.My plea with President Muhammadu Buhari to halt all study leaves, foreign transfers, postings of officers critical to take-off of incoming administrationBeyond the remarkable achievements of his administration in all sectors, President Muhammadu Buhari has demonstrated that he is a patriot, democrat and a man of impeccable integrity and character. Perhaps more than ever before, this has been on display even in the twilight of his administration. President Buhari has about two weeks left of his eventful tenure.Last week, he and his family officially moved out of their residence at Aso Rock Presidential Villa into a place called the Glass House, also within the precinct of the Villa.And we witnessed an astonishingly respectable spectacle of First Lady Aisha Buhari taking Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, round the Presidential Villa, their soon-to-be- abode.President Buhari and his wife Aisha Buhari have shown good faith and shown they want a seamless orderly and peaceful transfer of power to the incoming administration. They are eager to ensure that the new regime takes off smoothly and speedily and in a manner devoid of any encumbrance in the interest of our country. This is the right thing to do and I commend President Buhari and his wife for their statesmanly conduct.The President and his wife have demonstrated good faith.However, other officers in government have acted in a different manner. They are behaving as if they want to put spanners in the work for the incoming regime. President Buhari should not allow this. He should frown on any attempt by any person seeking to damage the good job he has done.This is the import of this press statement today. I want, here and now, to urge President Buhari to not approve any study leave or whatever kind of leave for any officer critical to the take-off of the incoming administration of Asíwájú Bola Ahmed Tinubu. One of such persons that has been speculated in the media to have sought a study leave is Central Bank of Nigeria Governor Godwin Emefiele. If the leave has been approved, as reported in the media, the President should cancel it in the interest of peaceful transfer of power, accountability and good governance. CBN Governor Emefiele superintended over the management of the country’s financial and monetary systems. He is the one who initiated and implemented the recent disastrous Naira swap policy, the Naira confiscation program, which put Nigerians through untold woes and trauma and set our economy backwards.Two of my brother-governors and I took the Federal Government to court over this ill-advised policy and fought resolutely until we got a respite for our people from Emefiele and company.This same Emefiele now wants to proceed on study leave when he has some 10 months left of his tenure apparently in a bid to evade rendering accounts. This is unacceptable. President Buhari should not countenance this. Emefiele must stay at his job to give full accounts of all that transpired under his watch to the incoming administration. He must answer all the questions the new regime may have for him particularly when he still has some months left of his tenure.I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to President Buhari to also not approve foreign postings or grant any foreign travels for any officer at any level in the outgoing government who may be critical or strategic to the smooth take-off of the incoming government. I’m aware that some officers in the outgoing government are moving to surreptitiously leave the country at this critical time they are needed to answer to specific questions, though I would not want mention their names here.President Buhari should not heed their inordinate and unpatriotic plan. These plans are dangerous and devilish. They show clearly that these officers have something to hide. This must be halted immediately. Any plan to evade rendering accounts is neither in the interest of accountability, transparency and anti-corruption, which President Buhari had championed in government, nor in the interest of an unencumbered take-off of the incoming administration. It’s also not in the interest of the country, which the president has always promoted and championed. TROOPS OF THE MULTINATIONAL JOINT TASK FORCE SUSTAIN ONSLAUGHT ON TERRORISTS………..neutralise terrorists and capture several pieces of equipment and high calibre weaponsThe ongoing operation by troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) nicknamed Operation HARBIN ZUMA has further diminished the capacity of BH/ISWAP terrorists to carry out their activities in the Lake Chad Basin region. The offensive posture and doggedness of troops of the MNJTF has continued to yield remarkable results.Following attack by BH/ISWAP terrorists on troops position in the general area of Arege which was effectively repelled, an exploitation was conducted by troops of the Force on 11 May 2023 in the general area. Several items were recovered including one Dushka gun, Dushka Turrell and a burnt Gun truck while several terrorists were neutralized during the encounter.Similarly, troops of MNJTF conducted a clearance operation in the general area of Ferondiya and successfully subdued BH/ISWAP terrorists attacks with superior fire power. The resilient troops cleared suspected terrorists hideouts and recovered equipment which includes 2 Gun trucks, 2 Anti – Aircrafts guns, one RPG tube, 2 AK 47 rifles, one RPG bomb and 3 Toyota Buffalo Gun truck tyres. BOOK LAUNCH: MINISTER OF DEFENCE LAUDS TRILOGY AUTHOR, JIBRIL NDACE……..HAILS FORMER COAS LT GEN TY BURATAI’S SERVICE LEGACIESThe Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi, rtd, CFR, has challenged media practitioners to do more in promoting the nation’s Armed Forces’ sacrifices in National defence. General Magashi stated this in a message to the Public Presentation and Launch of three books titled: DUTY Call under Buratai’s Command, Walking the War Front with Lt Gen TY Buratai and the Lonely Grave authored by Jibril Baba Ndace of the Blueprint News Papers. The Minister of Defence, a special guest of honour represented by his Special Adviser Technical, Major General AT Jibrin (rtd), commended the author for a job well accomplished. The Defence Minister said the books are much more than the by-product of a journalistic assignment. He extolled the sterling professionalism of the author, whom he described as a patriotic citizen and resourceful journalist worthy of emulation by his colleagues. While acknowledging the immense contributions of the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai, rtd, CFR, to the stability of the nation’s polity and his giant strides in repositioning the Nigerian Army, he tasked media practitioners to raise the bar of developmental journalism.The Vice president- Elect Senator Kashim Shettiman, represented by Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Leo Irabo and the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Blueprint Newspapers, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, acknowledged the intellectual prowess of the author for putting the books together in honour of Lt General Buratai whom they described as a gallant defender of the indivisibility of Nigeria.The honouree, Lt Gen TY Buratai, CFR, thanked the author for succinctly capturing narratives in the books. POLICE SERVICE COMMISSION PRESS RELEASEASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER ON DUTY: PSC CONDEMNS ACT COMMENDS IGP FOR PROMPT ACTION, DEMANDS IMMEDIATE PROSECTION OF SEUN KUTI TO RESTORE PUBLIC CONFIDENCE IN NIGERIA POLICEThe Police Service Commission wishes to condemn in strong terms the assault of a Police Officer in uniform and on official duty in Lagos by one Seun Kuti. The Commission, however, commends the Inspector General of Police, Baba Usman Ahmed, for his prompt action in ordering the arrest and prosecution of Seun, who obviously has diminished the sanctity of the symbol of authority of the Nigerian nation.The Commission demands that the culprit must be arraigned immediately and that the Inspector General must ensure that the matter is followed to its logical conclusion to restore public confidence in the Nigeria Police as the lead Agency in internal security and in its ability to maintain law and order and also protect lives and properties.Chairman of the Commission, Dr Solomon Arase, CFR, former Inspector General of Police, said no matter the offence the Police Officer committed, nobody, including Seun Kuti, has the right to assault a Policeman in uniform on official duty.Dr Arase frowned at the effontry of Seun to slap the Police Officer, insisting that Nigeria is not a Hobbesian state where might is right. ” We must as a civilized people explore established channels of complaints against alleged infractions by law enforcement Officials rather than this uncouth behavior in assaulting the symbol of authority in our country”, he noted.” We look forward to the prompt prosecution of Seun to act as a deterrent to others of his ilk”, Dr Arase added. He further commended the Police Officer for refusing to be provoked by the action of his aggressor, a development he said would have been more fatal.The PSC Chairman said it was unfortunate that, at a time, the Management of the Nigeria Police were dealing decisively with Officers who harassed, intimidated or assaulted civilians on our roads and workplaces; the same Police Officers have become victims of the actions of some uncultured elites.He said the Police should use the present incident to set an example that this will never be tolerated in Nigeria, a country governed by laws, rules and regulations.The Chairman noted that the groundswell of public opinion against the conduct of the abuser is indicative of the love and respect Nigerians have for law enforcement Officers. Guinness World Records Hails Chef Hilda Baci On Record-breaking AttemptThe Guinness World Records has hailed chef Hilda Baci on her attempt to break record for the longest cooking time.During her live session on Instagram on Sunday, the Guinness World Record dropped a comment to wish her goodluck.”Goodluck Hilda 🙌🏽,” the comment read.Baci is on a mission to cook multiple dishes for an expected time to get recognition from the Guinness World Records.The current record for the world’s longest cooking marathon is held by Lata Tondon, who completed the task in 87 hours, 45 minutes, and 00 secs in Rewa, India, in 2019.At the time of this report, Baci has exceeded 73 hours in her attempt.
