TODAY IN HISTORY 📆It’s exactly 1⃣3⃣ years since the demise of former Nigeria President Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’adua.He died on May 5,2010 in the presidential Villa After suffering from lung cancer and churg Strauss syndrome.He was the first elected president to die in office and the second head of state to die in Aso rock after General Sani Abacha who died (on June 8th 1998).✍🏾 ABOUT UMARU YAR’ADUAA Nigerian Politician who was the 13th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, was born in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria on 16 August, 1951.He was also the governor of Katsina State before becoming President.He was declared the winner of the Nigerian Presidential election held on 21 April 2007 and was sworn in on 29 May 2007.He was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).President Yar’Adua left Nigeria on 23 November 2009 and was reported to be receiving treatment for pericarditis at a clinic in Saudi Arabia.On 24 February 2010, Yar’Adua returned to Abuja still very ill.Yar’Adua died on 5 May at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa aged 58.An Islamic burial took place on 6 May in his hometown in Katsina.He is regarded as an incorruptible, detribalized, and Perfect Gentleman who put the general well-being of Nigerians above his personal ambition and is loved by the majority of Nigerians.He is also consistently ranked as one of Nigeria’s best Presidents of all time.

PHOTOS: Army Rescues Two More Chibok Girls In BornoThe Nigerian Army on Thursday said it had rescued two additional girls from the Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, nine years after their abduction by Boko Haram in 2014.According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Theatre Commander, North-East Joint Operation Hadin Kai, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, made this known while briefing newsmen at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri.Ali said that Hauwa Maltha and Esther Marcus, both serial numbers two and 103 in the list of the missing victims, were rescued on April 21, 2023, by troops of 114 Taskforce Battalion Bitta at Lagara, under the 21 armoured Brigade Bama during operations.He said that Maltha and Kibaku by tribe from Jila in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno, and her three-year-old baby were rescued.Ali added that while in captivity, Hauwa got married at Gulukos, a village in Sambisa Forest, to one Salman, a cameraman to Abubakar Shekau.He said, “Salman later died in Lake Chad. Thereafter, Hauwa Maltha got married to one Mallam Muhammad in Gobara and had 2 children for him who later died due to sickness.“Muhammad, her second husband, was also killed in Ukuba terrorist enclaves in Sambisa Forest during clashes between Boko Haram and ISWAP.“Hauwa who was about 8 months and 2 weeks pregnant during the time of her rescue delivered a bouncing baby boy on April 28, 2023, while undergoing thorough medical examination along with her baby Fatima at 7 Division Medical Hospital and Services.”Photo credit: Twitter | ZagazOlaMakama–

COAS COMMISSIONS ARMY INTERVENTION PROJECTS IN GEMBU TARABA STATE, REAFFIRM COMMITMENT TO IMPROVED CIVIL-MILITARY RELATIONSThe Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has reaffirmed his commitment to improved cordial relationship between the civil populace and the Nigerian Army ( NA). This he noted while commissioning the newly constructed 6 blocks of classrooms at Leme Bora Primary School and the renovated Nurul-Ulum Primary School undertaken by the NA in Gembu community of Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State.The COAS noted that, the Nigerian Army has in recent times embarked on elaborate quick impact projects in several communities across the country with a view to providing the desired succor to the masses and to further strengthen the existing good relationship between the people and the NA. He revealed that, the gesture has over time significantly contributed to the NA’s successes in containing with the multifaceted security challenges facing the Nation particularly through the non-kinetic approach. Represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General Abdulsalami Bagudu Ibrahim, the COAS appreciated the Project Executor Major General Abubakar Adamu (Retired) for the choice and quality of the projects. He also, urged the good people of Taraba State to keep supporting the NA in it’s strive to make the state safe and secured for economic activities to strive. The COAS further urged the good people of Gembu to continue to remain law abiding, peace loving and to always provide useful information to the security agencies.”peace brings unity and unity brings development” He averred. Also speaking at the event, the Chief of Civil -Military Affairs Army, Major General MG Kangye noted that the idea of such project is devoid of political colouration. He said, It is to endear the Army to the people. General Kangye further noted that the NA has undertaken numerous similar intervention project in all the region of the country. He urged the people of Gembu to ensure adequate utilization of the facilities. Earlier In his welcome remarks, the Executive Chairman, Sardauna Local Government Area, Dr AA Jugulde thanked the NA for honouring Major General A Adamu with a cost effective project that will benefit many generation of the communities. He described the senior officer as philanthropist and a detribalized Nigerian.Also speaking at the event, the Ta’bon of Mambilla, HRM Alhaji Dr Shehu Audu Baju ll appreciated the COAS for considering the remote community worthy of benefiting from the Army intervention projects. He also applauded Major General A Adamu for bringing the NA closer to the community through the projects. “you have sawn a seed by this project and also set a pace for others to follow” he noted. Describing the project, the Project Executor, the immediate past Commander, Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, Major General Abubakar Adamu (Retired) appreciated the COAS for approving funds for the completion of the projects. He stated that education is the key to success in life. Hence his choice to undertake the building and renovation of school facilities. General Adamu passionately urged parents to sacrifice for the educational advancement of their children. Highpoints of the occasion were the commissioning of the projects, cultural display and presentation of souvenirs to dignitaries. The event was also attended by the Commander 6 Brigade Brig Gen FS Etim, principal staff officers from 3 Division and Commanding Officer 20 Battalion as well as Heads of other security agencies and ilustral sons and daughters of Gembu extraction.

PRESIDENT BUHARI EULOGIZES NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES INITIATIVE OF DEVELOPING VIABLE PROJECT FOR EFFICIENT MILITARY OPERATIONSPresident Muhammadu Buhari has eulogized the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for coming up with a robust initiative aimed at developing viable project for efficient military operations. The President gave the compliments at the commissioning ceremony of a secured communication network for the Armed Forces project nick named GIWA 2 Project in Mogadishu Cantonment, Abuja on 2 May 2023. According to the President , the project GIWA 2 is designed to provide secure means of communications, real time instant reporting as well as information exchange between the AFN and other security agencies and bring about enhanced collaboration between defence intelligence and entire security community.. He added that the project will provide a platform for the denial of freedom of action by all perpetrators of insecurity across Nigeria. He therefore urged the AFN to continue to break a new ground and remain at the forefront of main stream technology and other cutting age initiatives. This, he pointed out will facilitate the provisions of a safe, secured and peaceful environment for Nigerians.Also speaking at the occasion, the Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS), General Lucky Irabor stated that the project was conceived following the directive by Mr President in 2021 for the Armed Forces and other security agencies in Nigeria to embark on operations to allow farmers return to their farms. The CDS noted that the project is a ” breakthrough in the technological advancement of communication system in the AFN. Continuing, he said the project has the capacity of providing voice, data and video as well as other value services to the Armed Forces. In his words, ” It is a welcome development in the evolution of Nigeria security land scape”. General Irabor emphasized that the project will greatly assist in the conduct of operations and ultimately promote national security.In his goodwill message to the AFN at the occasion, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami gave insight that the project will be used to gather intelligence, build trust , enhance the reputation of security institutions in Nigeria and promote confidentiality.Also present at the occasion was the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) Mr Godwin Emefiele who affirmed that insecurity devastates the production capacity of an economy and undermines governance in a country. He was optimistic that the project will guarantee jobs and enhance the nation’s security architecture. Mr Emefiele explained that insecurity impinges on economic growth and expressed the CBN commitment towards promoting project that will boost the nation’s economy and create jobs through increased agricultural production.Services Chiefs, Inspector General of Police, heads of other security agencies, senior military officers both serving and retired from across the services and other invited guests graced the occasion. Highpoint of the occasion was presentation of an artistic portrait of Mr President dressed in a Field Marshal rank military regalia by the Chief of the Defence Staff.
