PRESS STATEMENTRe: South East Coalition accusation of ethnic bias on boarding of citizens stranded in Sudan: a wicked lie Abuja: Tuesday, May 2, 2023.It has come to the attention of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) of a fabricated lie from the pit of hell that the Chairman/ CEO, Hon. (Dr) Abike Dabiri- Erewa, prevented some Nigerians, especially of the South East extraction from boarding buses hired by the Federal Government to evacuate stranded Nigerians from the war-torn Khartoum in Sudan. The ridiculous allegation which was first published by one Chukwujekwu Ilozue of the Daily Independent Newspapers on May 1, 2023, and syndicated by This Day Newspapers, Nigerian Tribune online and other online media, is the height of rascality and mischief. The said group never bothered to cross check the sponsored false story on Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa or get her own side of the story before spreading the falsehood all over the media in the spirit of fairness, balancing and objectivity. The allegation by the faceless group, a Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, (COSEYL),signed by one Hon Goodluck Ibem against the indefatigable Abike Dabiri -Erewa who was busy coordinating the two-day conference of Global African Diaspora Symposium (GADS), with 64 countries in attendance in Abuja, is most wicked, divisive and a ridiculous fabrication.Reports from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff on ground in Khartoum, indicated that when the boarding of buses began , the situation was so chaotic that some people (including Non Nigerians) jumped in violently , some with daggers, through the windows . To bring sanity and to abide by the instruction of the Minister of Foreign Affairs that priority should be given to women , children and students, the officials started calling them in according to states in alphabetical order , beginning with Abia State.Reports from Sudan indicate that all who converged at the prescribed locations, were to be picked up, have all been moved in 40 buses either towards Port Sudan or towards Egyptian borders. However , if some arrived after the stipulated time or did not show up at the point of pick up, they can’t blame it on any one.NIDCOM is focussed, working with other relevant agencies ,on the safe return of stranded Nigerians and will not be distracted by nonsensical, illogical , irresponsible , rascal and unfounded comments meant to distract from the success , safe and secure return of Nigerians from Khartoum, Sudan.E-signedAbdur-Rahman Balogun Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit NiDCOM, Abuja.Abuja, May 2, 2023.

Speaker Gbajabiamila on Sen Ekweremadu For as long as I have known Ike Ekweremmadu, he has been a brilliant lawyer, a distinguished public servant and a dedicated family man. Over the course of two decades of shared service in the national legislature, he has become a dear friend and trusted colleague. For these reasons, his arrest by authorities in the United Kingdom on charges of conspiring to arrange the travel of another Nigerian citizen to harvest his organs was a terrible shock. These revelations are a far departure from the character of the man as I have known him and fall far short of the standards of behaviour expected from a person of his standing. All that has come to light since his arrest has been deplorable and deeply unpleasant. For twenty-four years since the return to democratic governance in Nigeria, Ike Ekweremmadu has served the people of his community, his state and his country with vigour and dedication. For most of that time, he has been a member of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He has used this office to advance the cause of democracy, champion critical reforms and advocate for the development of his constituency. Through his Ikeoha Foundation, he and his wife have helped provide access to quality education and healthcare for thousands of people in his community and his state. Their public service and private philanthropy have helped improve the social, economic and political fortunes of their communities and aided the personal and professional progress of many. None of this suggests that either Ike Ekweremadu or his wife should be above the law or held to a different standard than any other citizen. I recount these things to present a whole perspective so that in this moment of consequence, the judgment of the court may take into consideration the Ekweremadu’s history of honourable living and distinguished service, their contributions to a better world and the possibility that, given a chance, through the penitence of service, both Ike and his wife can yet atone for their failings and find forgiveness before God and man. The welfare of two young Nigerians lies at the heart of this case. I hope that after all this is done, Mr David Nwamini, the complaining witness, will go on to a long and productive life, free from the trauma of his recent travails. For Ms Sonia Ekeremadu, Ike’s young daughter, whose well-being necessitated the unfortunate actions that have now led to these terrible consequences for all involved, the nightmare of a dangerous diagnosis is compounded beyond measure by the real possibility that the two people most responsible for her care may shortly be committed to terms of punishment from which they will be unable to offer even a loving embrace when nothing else will do. Surely, it is within our means to live under the law and be just and merciful all at once. I urge the court to consider the noble acts of Ike Ekweremadu’s life and judge him on the totality of that life rather than solely on this last worst act. I am confident that Ike Ekweremadu and his wife have learned from their recent experiences and will be guided by their better angels for the rest of their days. If nothing else, for the sake of their ailing daughter, Sonia, let mercy temper justice for this family. Rep. Femi GbajabiamilaSpeaker, House of Representatives.

SUDANESE MILITARY BATTLES TO ANNIHILATE SPECIAL FORCES (RAPID SUPPORT FORCES) CREATED BY FORMER PRESIDENTCredit: https://twitter.com/zagazolamakama?s=21&t=X56R-HlwCfd4vS8vMOztIQ Zagazola MakamaIn a statement released by the General Command of the Armed Forces, it said.“The enemy gathered in the capital to carry out the conspiracy until the morning of April 14. Huge troops with large equipment gathered in the crowd of (15) fighters, (4) ammunition fighters, (4) armored soldiers carriers and (4) double cab box trucks armed with machine guns.“During 14 days of fighting, our forces were able to reduce its combat capabilities by 30-4% of its combat capabilities that they have gathered to kidnap the state of Sudan, confiscate its decision and destroy its armed forces.“Movements of advanced rebel military reinforcements were thwarted, and another force coming from the north-west border stopped the progress of another force on board (3) large trucks and (4) Landcruiser combat carts heading towards Kerry, and a third group aboard (4) combat vehicles heading from Baqir to Mount Aulia.“Our monitoring of enemy movements confirms his continued attempts to strengthen his position on the ground and that our forces continue to counter these movements strongly.“The country inherited a heavy burden because of the mistake of the strategic obsolete regime by forming a quick support militia. The Sudanese state is now paying the high price for sabotaging the country, terrifying and looting the citizens.“We assure our citizens that he will not concede in achieving his aspirations in not turning back the clock, and we will not allow the country to again distort its military structure except through the gate of the Sudanese Armed Forces, no matter how high the cost is.Office of the Spokesman of the Armed Forces
